CENTER FOR CONFLICT STUDIES
Center for Conflict Studies at Koç University is established by a group of scholars in the International Relations Department of Koç University whose research focuses on understanding the emergence, evolution, and resolution of conflict in domestic and international politics. Its main goals include stimulating scientific research on conflict and peace issues, such as on rivalry, terrorism, civil and interstate war, and conflict management both at Koç University and in Turkey in general, encourage the growth of an academic community engaging in conflict and peace research in Turkey and the broader region, and advance the exchange of ideas between the local, regional, and global scholarly community through conferences, working paper series, seminars, publications, and visiting scholars.
To stimulate scientific research in the study of conflict, the Center for Conflict Studies undertakes two primary tasks:
(1) It hosts the Eurasian Peace Science Network, which attempts to encourage rigorous research and seeks to connect scholars who study conflict in Turkey and its region with conflict and peace scholars across the globe, in addition to disseminating relevant research through conferences and visiting scholar positions.
(2) It hosts the annual Eurasian Peace Science Conference where scholars from around the world present cutting-edge theoretical and empirical work on political conflict and cooperation.
